FREQUENTLY ASKED RELAY QUESTIONS
1. Will these relays fit the Breva, Griso, Norge and other newer models?
No. They fit only the spine frame Sport models and 1994+ Tonti frame models.
2. Why do the Siemens V23073 relays fail?
Theory A: These relays do not withstand vibration well. When closed, the points bounce open and when open, they bounce closed. The resulting arcing causes the points to pit and burn.
Theory B: With no arc suppression across the V23073's coil, the energy stored in its magnetic field dissipates by arcing across the contacts when the relay is de-energized. The resistor across the coil in the MGR series relays absorbs the energy and protects the contacts and other circuits connected to the contacts. In addition, the MGR series relays have been tested over the full range of vibration frequencies equivalent to the range of RPMs involved without contact bounce.
3. How do I know whether to buy the sealed or unsealed version?
The location on the Guzzi's is well protected from rain. The sealed version is recommended if you power wash your bike and might hit the relay with hi pressure, or if the location is not well protected from rain, or if the extra protection is simply worth the modest difference in price to you.
4. Some of my relays have only 4 terminals. Will these relays work?
The 4 terminal relays lack the 87a terminal. If your socket will accept a 5 terminal relay, our relays will work. Note that you can swap a 5 terminal relay into a socket that contained a 4 terminal relay, but not necessarily the opposite. We recommend installing 5 terminal relays in all the sockets to maximize your swap options in case of emergency.
5. I am uncomfortable with Chinese products for ethical, political, reliability or other reasons.
Our relays are made in the U.S.A. and meet the Micro ISO automotive standards as well.
6. Your Web site lists prices for the USA. I live elsewhere. Will you ship to me?
Yes. Send us an email with your destination and preferred shipping method. We ship all over the world.
7. How do you ship?
All relays shipped to the domestic U.S. go via US Postal Service Priority mail and normally arrive within 2 days. Relays shipped elsewhere go via Air Mail, UPS or any other method requested and normally arrive within three days to a week, depending on the country.
8. How do I pay for the relays?
Payment can be made by check in U.S. dollars, bank, postal or Western Union money order. If your country's banking system is not efficient dealing in U.S. dollar denominated checks, you may find Western Union money orders very convenient, and there are no clearance delays. Funds are available within minutes of your deposit with Western Union no matter where you reside.
9. I need new relays ASAP. Will I have to wait for my check to clear?
Not necessarily. E-mail us and we will ship upon receipt immediately within the domestic U.S.
10. I bought a relay from you and it failed. Now what?
Relays are warranteed for 12 months. The failed relay must be returned in exchange for inspection. That's how we determine failure mode. The replacement will be free of charge unless run over or blowtorched or otherwise flagrantly abused.
